Resilience Academy

The Resilience Academy is a university partnership program together with GeoICT4e project in Tanzania, focusing on geospatial skills and knowledge transfer for improved urban resilience. The university partnership contains 1. the universities in Tanzania which are UDSM, ARU, SUA, MoCU and SUZA, 2. The Tanzania government office which is ICT Commission and 3. The international universities which are University of Turku, Twente University and University of Netherlands.
Resilience Academy uses tools and technologies, which are open, affordable and locally adaptable, such as drone images, smartphones and open-source software to provide experience, training and skills to youth. New geospatial data and knowledge is created through community mapping methods aiming for improved spatial planning and risk management. Apart from many other issues that Resilience Academy does, it is focusing on developing e-learning materials, managing the geospatial databases (CRD) for data sharing and research, industrial training program and research.

Resilience Academy establishes cooperations between Tanzanian Universities and national and international actors who are interested in and working with urban resilience and flood challenges of the world.
